La température plus douce est de retour et les précipitations intermitantes laissent parfois la place à quelques heures de soleil. Hier était une de ces journées et j'en ai profité pour faire une promenade et quelques photos.

The weather is milder now and occasional rain gives way to some hours of sunshine. Yesterday was one of those days and I took a long walk and some photos.

On Piazza Santa Maria del Croce, Dante is in deep thoughts.
Sur le flan de l'église Orsanmichele, il y a plusieurs niches dont celle-ci dont il est dit qu'un jeune homme nommé Leonardo da Vinci aurait servi de modèle. Ce serait le seul portrait de Léonard jeune qui existerait.

On the Orsanmichele church sidewall are a few niche among which this one. It is said that a young man by the name of Leonardo da Vinci would have served as a model. It would be the only likeness of the young Leonardo to exist.

Regardez attentivement entre le deux édifices et vous verrez la fin du Correggio Vasari qui relie le Palazzo Pitti (près de chez moi) et le Palazzo Vecchio (centre du vieux Florence). Ce long corridor est surtout connu car il passe sur par-dessus les boutiques du Ponte Vecchio et du Musée des Offices.

Look carefully between the two buildings et you will see the end part of the Correggio Vasari linking Palazzo Pitti (near my studio) and Palazzo Vecchio in the centre of old Florence. This long passge is particularly known as it sits over the Ponte Vecchio's boutiques and the Uffizi Museum.

Et pour finir l'après-midi, près du Ponte Vecchio, une glace dont je n'ai pas demandé le prix au préalable. C'est 6 euros (pratiquement 9 dollars) et devant ma grande surprise, la vendeuse me dit que les autres glaces à 3 ou 4 euros sont des glaces industrielles. Le Ponte Vecchio est le pire piège à touristes que je connaisse. Les bijoux s'y vendent à deux fois le prix qu'on paierait à Rome et plusieurs fois le prix qu'on paierait à Montréal. Pour ma part, pas de nouveau bracelet et plus de cornet! Ce sera mieux pour mon budget et pour mon tour de taille!

And to complete the afternoon, near Ponte Vecchio, an ice cream cone for which I did not ask the price before ordering. It is 6 euros (almost 9 dollars) and looking at my surprise, the seller tells me that the other ice cream cones at 3 or 4 euros are made with industrial ice cream. Ponte Vecchio is probably the worst tourists' trap I know. Jewelry offered there is sold at at least twice the price you would fin in Rome, which is already many times the price you would pay in Montreal. For me, no new bracelet and no more ice cream! It will be better for my budget and my waist line!
